I agree, and that theme of "healing" is very Virgo. Although his music tends to be lugubrious, personally I do find it to be soothing and healing. Perhaps I can relate to it well being a Virgo myself.

Re: Mercury Retrograde: 3/30 – 4/23

Heidegger, in "Science and Reflection," didn't promote contemplation, in fact, his views are the total opposite of what you have interpreted. In simple words, he suggests that the pure thinking age is coming to an end. Moreover, the idea of reflection that he explained is not only in favor of scientific research but also the explanation of underlying abstract elements, for instance, the "essence" of sciences.

Re: Full Moon in Libra – 4/17/11

Awww shucks! Thanks, Claire. And while we love us some Susan Miller, her site could use an update, right?

Re: Full Moon in Libra – 4/17/11

Damn, you're good. This is like reading Susan Miller* but on a nice, clean, modern website with elegant prose. (*respeck to Suze, she is the queen but nah mean?)

Re: Leonard Cohen, “The Stranger,” Virgo

I agree with you in a sense. If memory serves, he's very Piscean, with Moon and Ascendent in Pisces. The Stranger thing really holds up, since Pisces is the wise old (read: solitary) sage of the zodiac.

But the image of The Stranger is super Virgoian image, of feeling a sense of alienation from others, feeling like you're floating in and out of situations, like you never have a "home" other than that of your own body. Does that make sense??

Re: Leonard Cohen, “The Stranger,” Virgo

It's always, ALWAYS shocking that L. Cohen is a Virgo. Don't you think?

Re: Mercury Retrograde: 3/30 – 4/23

I love this. And it brings up another point that astrologers often make when talking about the Mercury Rx period -- one shouldn't simply sit around and wait for the storm to pass. One can also "actively" contemplate, without a goal or direction, which to me sounds a whole like artistic exploration. "Work on that poem" or "Think more about the plot of that novel" are two cliched things you'll often hear, which I tend to think is good advice.

One question -- what is the paralysis that Heidegger found himself trapped into? Was it of the artistic sort?

Re: Mercury Retrograde: 3/30 – 4/23

Heidegger wanted us to enter into a period of contemplation, or "self-possessed surrender to that which is worthy of questioning." However, he disagrees that we should "reflect on the ideas we've been generating." We must enter into reflection without any goal or direction of thought whatsoever: "traveling in the direction that is a way toward that which is worthy of questioning is not adventure but homecoming." Thus reflecting on thoughts only reinforces our consciousness and does not allow us to understand the essence of our "Being" (Dasein).
I am not sure that I agree with Heidegger but just thought it might be worth mentioning. I am more sympathetic to Arendt who believes that this narrow view of contemplation trapped Heidegger into utter paralysis. This is one of the reasons she wrote "Heidegger the Fox" and criticized his view of reflection that allows no room for engagement with the world.

Re: Mercury Retrograde: 3/30 – 4/23

Thank you kindly!

Re: Mercury Retrograde: 3/30 – 4/23

very insightful!!

Re: Fran Lebowitz, Scorpio

i am guessing this is code for "judgmental"...have you heard the song dedicated to my beauty and awesomeness @ http://www.toshireagon.com/ (Click on Scorpio on top right corner of web page)

Re: Fran Lebowitz, Scorpio

And with unambiguous opinions!

Re: Fran Lebowitz, Scorpio

I love Fran...listening to her speak is like reading a short story from Dorothy Parker...witty, bold, and honest.

Re: test

This is what a comment looks like.

Re: http://theretrograder.virb.com/horoscopes/text/12615368

Testing.... 1, 2, 3
